Boofhead was an australian cartoon character who featured in a number of sharp's works from the 1960s onwards. A major figure of australian pop art during the 1960s and 70s, martin sharp is renowned for his cartoons, collages, paintings and designs for posters and album covers epitomising pop's rejection of tradition and its love of colour, figuration and irony. Within its 38 pages were colour reproductions of works by sharp which juxtaposed images by artists such as vincent van gogh and rene magritte.
